Passiflora incarnata

Passionflower (stem, leaf and flower) is used as a mild sedative to promote a calm sleep, a nervine to relieve restlessness and to nourish the nervous system, as well as an anxiolytic for anxiety. It is commonly used as a sleep aid, especially for those with too much mental chatter or repetitive thoughts keeping them awake at night. It supports a calming and relaxing effect on the body during times of occasional stress. It also has anti-spasmodic activity which helps with muscle spasms, menstrual cramps, twitching, or stress headaches. It nay also be used for teething and hyperactive or restless children. Passionflower is native to the tropical parts of the United States.
