Verbascum thapsus

Mullein (leaf) is a mild and gentle expectorant. It works in the respiratory tract by increasing the acitvity of the cilia, which stimulate the movement of mucuous out of the system. It also cleanses and soothes the mucuous membranes, reducing irritation and inflammation. This herb may be used for all types of lung conditions including; hot, cold, dry or damp infections. It has been traditionally used for asthma, bronchitis, coughs, tuberculosis and lung congestion. Mullein also supports a healthy lymphatic system and may reduce swollen lymph glands while supporting our immune system health. This plant is native to Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa and Asia and has been widely naturalized in North America and Australia.
