Camellia sinensis

Green Tea (leaf) is one of the richest documented sources of antioxidants. It contains polyphenols that are known collectively as catechins, and which make it six times more antioxidant rich than black tea. It has anti-bacterial properties that inhibit cavity causing bacteria when taken as a tea, it is a mild stimulant, astringent, diuretic and anti-inflammatory herb. It contains less caffeine than black tea and is high in an amino acid called theanine, which promotes a sense of calm and well being. It has been cultivated in India, China, and Japan for hundreds of centuries and has been used for at least five thousand years to support digestion, a healthy cardiovascular system, blood sugar metabolism, weight loss, energy production and it supports clear and focused thinking.
